A magnetic stirring bar is used in conjunction with a magnetic stirrer to stir the contents of a beaker or flask for a period of time. It is placed inside the beaker or flask and begins to spin when the magnetic stirrer is switched on. It is a small, PTFE plastic coated magnetic rod, with a central raised rib.
