Watch glasses are a circular piece of glass handy for a multitude of purposes, including: evaporating liquids, a container for powders and small items during weighing, a beaker cover and much more.
Although watch glasses are commonly used in chemistry, they were originally named because of their similarity to the glass in old fashioned pocket watches.
